Risk pays off for Brave owner

Brent McPhail chose the height of the Great Recession to leave a good job and launch a new business.

The risk has paid off.

In less than six years, Brave Control Solutions, has grown from a one-man start-up, operating out of McPhail’s home office to one of Canada’s fastest growing businesses.

Employing 31 employees — 25 at its Windsor head office, five at its Toronto office, with another location slated to open this year in Detroit — Brave Control Solutions is dedicated to finding solutions for manufacturers in need of improving processes and productivity.

Sales have steadily grown from $1.6 million in 2012 to $6 million last year, with the goal of reaching $10 million this year, said McPhail.

The company has established an expertise in automotive manufacturing and recently developed technology that helped Ford Motor Co., use existing presses to stamp parts for its lighter, aluminum 2015 Ford F-150, which was unveiled in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
