As the summer of 2020 is coming to a close we can’t help but feel like something is missing. Something that brings us together as a company and gets us active, something that forces us to be adventurous and take risks and to tackle new challenges.

The Nerd Olympics

The Nerd Olympics have been the focus of our summer and fall for the last 3 years. While we are sad that we don’t have the chance to see all of our friends in the YQG tech community and compete with them this year we understand that it is the best decision at this time and it is more important for all of us to come together (by staying apart) in order to support our community.
But just because there are no Nerd Olympics this year it doesn’t mean that we can’t still visit and support some of the awesome local activities we were introduced to in years passed and support our local businesses!
We went through our memories and wanted to share some our favourite Nerd Olympic events we got to take part in and share how you can support them this fall!

GO KARTING @ Warp Drive

Our team collaborated with Electrozad to train for the Go Karting event in 2018. We held weekly practices at Warp Drive every Thursday for weeks before the opening event to prepare. Some of the members from both teams kept the tradition going a few weeks longer even, addicted to the speed and thrill of racing!
Warp Drive is still open for the season Monday to Friday 4pm to sundown and Weekends 11am to sundown with enhanced cleaning measures and safety protocols. For the latest on their hours and protocols visit their website www.warpdrive.ca

E-SPORTS @ EZYMODE

We didn’t keep it a secret that we were excited for this event. Members of our staff had been playing this game competitively among themselves for MONTHS and even recommended it to WETech before knowing that it was already selected for the Esports challenge. Our team was unprepared for the PRESSURE and anxiety that comes in competing in e-sports, but they battled through their nerves to come out victorious and win first place!!
EZYMODE lounge on Ottawa Street is open with a patio, an expanded menu and an even more expansive menu of games to play Tuesday through Sundays!
The Nerd Olympics are about bringing people together to explore and enjoy what our community has to offer! And our community needs our support now more than ever! So let’s support our local businesses!
These are just some of our favourites over the years! Use what is left of the summer and fall to explore and enjoy Windsor and Essex county to the fullest!
